a new internet entrepreneur I soon found that there are literally millions of sites, articles, software and blogs on the internet on marketing. The question is which of these theories are correct.
Terms like "Internet is Business", "Marketing in Small Business", "Marketing for Web", Internet Marketing for Online Business", "E Business and Marketing" and many, many more are frequently used.
I made the mistake of trying to get to grips with, and learn all of these methods before I was willing to take any action. The result? A Massive Dose of Information Overload. I called it "Information Burnout". I had all this information on my computer's hard drive and in my head, but I could not put any of it together into a logical and workable plan of action.
After nearly two years of trying, and trying again, and again, and again, I was ready to give it up. I was convinced that making money on the internet was not only a myth, but also a gigantic lie, used by the so called "Gurus" to steal my money.
I was flat broke, I was stressed out, feeling like a failure, I had no confidence and was taking flack from my family and friends telling me, "I told you so, you can't do it"
Then something happened in my personal life and with my health and I was forced to seek professional help.
Although the problems were serious, as it turned out, they had a major positive influence on me and the way in which I saw and did things.
It did two things for me: It took me away from that "damned" computer, as my wife used to call it, and it gave me time in which to reflect on my life and where I was going with it. I realized. Hey, life is short.
The result was that I now had a clear perspective of it was that I actually wanted to achieve and I knew how to get there! Gone was the stress and the uncertainty. I learned how to deal with negative situations and people. Suddenly I was able to make sense of all the information I had stored. I was able to focus on the important things. Gone was the "Information Black Out".
This might sound like a miracle; it is not, it takes a lot of dedication and practice, but once you are in to it, it happens very quickly.
Today I can honestly say that I am a happy and successful person, leading a fulfilling and balanced life.
There is still a lot of information on the internet on marketing, but I have found a way of distilling it all into tiny portions that I can understand and implement.
The irony is that there is no one single correct answer or theory. The answer lies in a combination of a whole lot of different methods and actions.
If you are new to internet marketing, or if you are caught up in the same trap, you must get and study my book, "The Psychology of Internet Marketing". In it I describe how I got into this "hopeless" situation as well as a step by step guide on how I managed to release myself, and start a new, fulfilling, and successful life.
My new life started at 59. When will your new life start?
